I've had a love for wood and ivory carving (Walrus tooth ivory and bone) for many years. Most of my wood carving is either animals or figures. One series that I call "Driftwood Dreams©" is mythology and fantasy based figures carved from driftwood. I usually just stare at a particular piece of driftwood for a while until the figure comes to me, then I carve it leaving a goodly amount of the driftwood uncarved to keep it's unique character. My caricature carvings are humorous versions of people I know, such as the one shown of my Dad in his McKinley Mountain Man Muzzleloaders outfit. |

| The two carvings above, the African Baule Mask and the Ivory Dolphin, are miniatures. For scale on the mask, the round object upon which it rests is a cap from a 35mm film canister. The dolphin is approximatetly 1.5 inches long. The dolphin and the ivory necklace are carved from Walrus tooth ivory, both pieces are considered antique ivory, as the ivory is approximately 100 to 500 years old. |

On the right, front and back views of a caricature of my Father in his Mountain Man outfit. Carved of Basswood, the piece is painted in acrylics. The rifle was carved separately and fit to the hand. |
